June 5, 2006

TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY!

We've all been working hard -- but let's not let up yet!  Just 1 more day to get the message out that "Frank Scotto" is the best choice for the next Mayor of Torrance.

Please call your friends and neighbors and remind them that "EVERY VOTES COUNTS" tomorrow.

GET OUT AND VOTE FOR FRANK SCOTTO!

June 2, 2006

IT'S ONLY 4 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY!

DAN WALKER HAS ALWAYS USED THIS LAST WEEK-END TO SEND OUT MAILERS WITH ALLEGATIONS WHICH ARE UNTRUE AND HIS OPPONENT HAS NO CHANCE TO RESPOND. (REMEMBER WHAT WE SAID ABOUT MARCIA CRIBBS, HIS LAST OPPONENT IN 2002?)

VOTERS OF TORRANCE - EVERYTHING YOU WILL HEAR THIS WEEK-END FROM DAN WALKER WILL BE A LIE!  DON'T BE TAKEN IN!

THE "SCOTTO FOR MAYOR" CAMPAIGN WILL CONTINUE THE COURSE WE HAVE BEEN ON UNTIL ELECTION DAY, JUNE 6, 2006.  WE ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO IGNORE DAN'S LIES ABOUT FRANK AND VOTE "FRANK SCOTTO FOR MAYOR" ON JUNE 6, 2006!

May 29, 2006

DAILY BREEZES ENDORSES FRANK SCOTTO FOR MAYOR - Everyone is very excited about the Daily Breeze endorsement.  The article in Sunday's paper told the story that the "Frank Scotto for Mayor" campaign has been telling for the last 18 months!  Frank's leadership is what the City of Torrance needs now more than ever.

May 27, 2006

We're coming to the end of our "marathon" race!  This final week will be the busiest of the campaign.  If you can help in ANY way, please call Renee at 325-1908.  Any time you can give will make the difference on June 6 and a victory for "Frank Scotto for Mayor"!

May 26, 2006

On Wednesday, May 25 over 120 people attended the final fund raising event for Frank Scotto for Mayor!  Appropriately we held it at the Sons of Italy Hall and the members prepared a delicious spaghetti dinner.  Thanks to everyone who came to show their support and their respects.  It was a great evening!

May 25, 2006

The entire Scotto family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to everyone who sent cards and attended the services for Nancy Scotto. Although it was a very painful week for us, we find strength from the many friends we have. Nancy was always so proud of her sons and their accomplishments and would have been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support you all gave.  We can't thank you enough!

May 15, 2006

We can all agree.......................Dan Walker is creative! If you have gotten the latest mailer or attended last week's forums you know what we're talking about! These are the 2 latest false facts used by our opponent.

  • The mailer showing developers names and contributions---those checks were refunded a long time ago!

  • The forum at which Dan stated that a city union was TOLD by Frank that they were to send out a mailer for Frank and pay for it!!! Fabrication.

With only 21 days until the election, we cannot stress enough that you will be getting more of these mailers. Residents of Torrance, don't be taken in by the mayor's continued lies and made-up stories.  He thinks we're not smart enough to see what he is up to!

Join us on June 6th in our victory to TAKE BACK TORRANCE!  Now, more than ever, send the message to Dan Walker that the residents of Torrance are tired of his mud slinging and his lies!

THE LIES CONTINUE!

BUT THE END IS IN SIGHT - JUNE 6, 2006!

Let's review,

1.  The Mayor had his cronies serve Frank Scotto with recall papers on false and trumped-up charges

2.  The Mayor has orchestrated a campaign using Councilmembers Mike Mauno and Hope Witkowsky with totally false allegations regarding a developer, Norm LaCaze, who just happens to be a long-time friend of Dan Walker's.

3.  The Mayor had the Torrance Firefighters Association President Martin Serna, go on record saying the Frank voted to cut 14 firefighters.  NOT TRUE--NEVER HAPPENED--CHECK THE RECORD

4.  And now, The Mayor has told the City unions and workers that Frank will disband them if he is elected.  HOW ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!  Frank has always supported our city workers.  CHECK THE RECORD!

RESIDENTS OF TORRANCE

Dan Walker will say ANYTHING to slander Frank Scotto.  Don't believe the repeated lies.  We can make a change in 28 days!

ELECT FRANK SCOTTO MAYOR ON JUNE 6, 2006

And help us send a message to Dan Walker that his brand of politics and his negative campaigning against honest people are no longer going to be a part of OUR community.

THE LATEST E-MAILS AND PHONE MESSAGES:

This web-site is dedicated to getting the TRUTH out to Torrance residents.  Frank and Cindy have always been totally honest and open to your questions and this will continue.

But........The Mayor is once again trying to distort the facts.  The e-mails and telephone messages that residents are receiving from Martin Serna, President of the Torrance Firefighters Association (the union and not necessarily the opinions of ALL Torrance firefighters) declare that Frank voted to cut 14 firefighters.  Is this the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?!?!  No one, we repeat, NO ONE on this Council would ever be in favor or cutting firefighters.  In fact, Frank states that he wants to add a paramedic unit.  This allegation comes from a Budget Workshop at which all the City Departments were asked to look for ways to cut their budgets.  Fire Chief Bongard said his Department would have to cut firefighters in order to comply.  That motion was NEVER made.  A substitute motion was made to increase fees to Torrance residents for such things as Paramedics and fire inspections.  (To call a Paramedic to your home now costs you $276.00.  It was free before this vote)  Frank voted "NO" to imposing these fees on residents.  Thus, he wanted to cut firefighters?  We continue to be amazed at how the Mayor can distort ANY issue to serve his own purpose.

Don't be sucked in by Police and Firefighters unions' e-mails and phone messages.  These will continue until election day.  You can count on that!

Remember, Torrance residents, Frank remains open and is only a phone call away to answer your concerns.  (310) 212-6751 or email.

CANDIDATES FORUMS:

Thank you to the League of Women Voters, The Torrance Council of PTAs and the AAUW for an outstanding Forum on April 19.  It was very well attended and some very pertinent questions were asked and Frank gave some great answers.

Thank you must also go to Old Torrance Neighborhood Association for another well-attended and well-run Forum on April 26.  Charles Payne and Todd Hays, Co-Presidents welcomed everyone and Janet Payne served as moderator.  She did an outstanding job of distributing the questions to the candidates and keeping the Forum moving along.

The next Forum will be on Monday, May 1 at Anza Elementary School.  It is sponsored by the Southwood Homeowners Association and will begin at 7:00 pm.  Hope to see more "Frank Scotto for Mayor" supporters there!

April 17, 2006

Yet another "Hit" piece will be invading your homes soon.  A mailer is being sent by "SOMEONE"  stating "District Attorney asked to investigate Frank Scotto's Misconduct".  If you receive this piece, please look closely at the bottom.  The two signatures (which by the way were not printed or typed for a reason) were not found in the "Registered Voters List" for Torrance.  If you continue to receive these mailers and don't believe their lies, you have options.  1.  Throw them in the trash; 2.  Write a letter to the editor of the Daily Breeze;  3.  Call City Hall and complain to the Mayor; and  4.  Join the "Team for Change" by helping the campaign to "Elect Frank Scotto Mayor" on June 6!

April 15, 2006

Many "Scotto" volunteers spent the morning at Farmer's Market passing out Easter eggs and lawn signs.  Many people stopped to talk and pick up literature.  The weather cooperated and we had a great morning.  Thanks to all the supporters for showing up to help.

April 10, 2006

Last week-end "Scotto for Mayor" VOLUNTEERS were out walking door-to-door talking with homeowners. To our surprise-------The Mayor's HIRED walkers were also out.  They were putting tacky door-hangers out which were signed by Councilmembers Hope WItkowsky and Mike Mauno, as well as developer Norm LaCaze (who we hear might be coming back to council this summer with the so-called "Fairfield" or "Shea" project).  If you have questions regarding these accusations we urge you to call HOPE WITKOWSKY at (310) 791-5766 or MIKE MAUNO at (310) 618-1970.

April 9, 2006

March 20, 2006

We continue to hold our coffee get togethers....three or four each week.  Attendance is outstanding and I appreciate all of you who have held these coffees and those who have taken the time to attend.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all of you who have also attended our Fundraisers during the last few months.  We are constantly amazed at the turnouts!  Special thanks to Diana at the West End Racquet Club, David Chu from the China Tea House, and Laurie and Bob at the Red Car Brewery.  We certainly couldn't have done these fundraisers without their help!

There is always, and unfortunately, a downside to campaigning against an incumbent.  Negative phone calls and emails seem to be on the "rise" in the last couple of weeks.  We are truly sorry that Torrance residents are receiving these intrusive, unsolicited and FALSE communications.  But your ongoing support is very much appreciated.

It was with surprise, yet gratitude, that I attended the Torrance Firefighter Association's Spaghetti Dinner on March 18th.  TFFA holds this dinner annually to raise funds for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.  When arriving, I found many "Scotto Supporters" supporting the Burn Foundation, even after an email was sent by the TFFA President miscommunicating my vote on an item taken 3 years ago.  It's gratifying to know that we can, as Torrance residents, see pass the negativity and support a very worthwhile cause.

Again, thank you for your continued support.   We can see very clearly that there will be a Change for Torrance on June 6th!

March 14, 2006

Well, they're at it again!  The telephone calls and e-mails from the Torrance Firefighters started yesterday.  The truth of the matter is Frank supports Police and Firefighters.  He is a Board Member of the South Bay Police and Fire Memorial Foundation which raises money to help families when an officer or firefighter is injured.  He is a major donor for their annual golf tournament.
Let's be truthful ---- why would he want to cut firefighters when he has told over 700 residents (at coffees) that he feels we need additional service providers?  It just doesn't make sense!
More telephone and e-mail messages will likely be sent out.  If you have questions on anything said, please call Frank at 212-6751.

March 13, 2006

We were again completely over-whelmed by the turn-out at the Red Car Brewery last Saturday!  Over 100 people packed the restaurant and bar. The food was great and we were even entertained with a little "ditty" by Darold Kusch.
Thank you all for your continued support!  With such great supporters, we are WINNERS!

3/8/06

On Thursday, March 8, 2006 Frank Scotto took his Nomination Papers to the City Clerk and officially filed his candidacy for Mayor in the June 6, 2006 election. There's no turning back now (much to the dismay of the Mayor)!

3/8/06

Candidate Forum dates.

3/5/06

Frank and Cindy Scotto have attended over 35 "Coffees" in homes throughout Torrance.  It has been a great way to meet the many wonderful and concerned residents of Torrance and let them know what's happening to OUR city.  Thanks to the many hosts and hostesses.  Over 700 people have heard the "message" and are becoming engaged in this election.  Over 25 "Coffees" are still on the calendar.

11/7/05

It’s been over a year since I announced my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Torrance.  I decided to become a candidate because I, like many residents, do not agree with the direction that our current mayor is taking OUR City.

Over the past few months I have met with hundreds of Torrance residents at organized neighborhood get-togethers.  The residents I met have shared many concerns about the future of Torrance.  The most immediate concerns are development and traffic.  I have heard and I am listening!

During the last month, many volunteers have been walking Torrance neighborhoods with our door-hangers.  The response from these door hangers has been phenomenal and I’d like to thank all of you who volunteered your time to help in this endeavor.

Over the past months there has been some very negative campaigning against me through both email and attacks at Council meetings, and I am sure it will not end there.  I have pledged to myself, as well as my supporters, that negative campaigning will NOT be part of our strategy to win the election on June 6, 2006.   I have pledged to run only on my record, my experience, and my vision for a better Torrance!

Having said that......there recently has been a "blog" established by a Torrance resident, "worstmayorever.blogspot.com.”  This blog's author has included a link to my website.   I do not know who this blogger is.  While his link has definitely increased the number of people visiting my Mayoral website, I want to take this opportunity to disavow any connection or input to this blog.

I hope you will take a few minutes to visit my "I Want to Help" area of this web site. It will be a hard campaign and I need volunteers!  I can't win without your help.  Your efforts in our campaign will be an investment in the future of Torrance.  Emailing this link to your Torrance friends, relatives and neighbors or printing out the "I Want to Help" page and distributing it would be really helpful!

I will not be holding any get-togethers during November or December.   While the campaign work does not stop, I feel this is a very busy time for you, and more importantly, a time to share with family and friends.

I will again start our get-togethers in January.   I plan on meeting with residents of Torrance right up to the night before the election on June 6th.  If you would like to hold a get-together please see our "I Want to Help" area in this website or contact me at (310) 212-6751.

To the residents of Torrance, thank you for caring about OUR city and for your commitment and support.  Let’s “Take Back Torrance” together!

Frank Scotto
